I’ve got a new sad song for you
thoughts I had, heard, + read since the last time I sent out this newsletter
This fact that stood out to me from ‘The Body’ book - Many cancers progress so slowly that they remain completely unknown and the patient dies of something else before the cancer kills them.
Also unsurprisingly, it’s not good to be an American for a zillion different reasons in terms of health. We spend more money on healthcare than any other nation and come in 31st in global life expectancy. Embarrassing.
I had a super sweet 100 tomato last week and I think it might have been the sweetest tomato I’ve ever had. I would rec this variety if you grow tomatoes or if you see it at a farmers market.
I will defend LA forever. However, I went to Chicago last weekend for a wedding and while I didn’t have time to do much or explore the city in any real way, it did feel very amazing to be in a walkable city. Makes ya think!
My cousin, Rachel mentioned she eats frozen blueberries with oat milk for breakfast. The combo sounded sort of unappealing to me, but I was at home craving fruit without any fresh fruit to be seen, so I decided to try it…and I loved it. The milk freezes slightly and it becomes a slushy delicious mixture. Perfect for low effort satisfying snacks on a hot day.
Non internet content I consumed since the last newsletter:
books:
The Library Book by Susan Orlean, would rec
half of Marrying the Ketchups, pass
movies:
Marcel - would rec
The Last Movie Stars - would rec (technically docuseries)
Nope - would rec
After Yang - would rec
Marry Me - would rec if on a plane to witness the sheer absurdity of this plot and execution
Licorice Pizza - pass. PTA doesn’t make bad movies but this was not my favorite.
Body Heat - eh was sort of fun for the looks
Niagara - pass
